What food product makes apples rot faster?

The apple with lemon juice started to rot first.

 Conclusion:

Salt keeps food from rotting.  A long time ago people used to put salt on food so it wouldn’t rot.  Like beef jerky, pickles and fish.  If you want  apple slices to stay nice not to turn brown and rot, keep them in salt water.
