Introduction to VEX Robotics Competition

Any incoming 8th grade and up
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is an introductory course to VEX Robotics led by current robotics student on the ESHS Robotics team.  Students will explore the basics of designing, building and programming robots using VEX kits and ROBOT-C software.  Students will work hands-on in teams to find creative solutions to problems and perform specific tasks.  In the fall, students will have the option to take their robot to compete in the regional VEX Robotics Competition.  The objective of the course is to provide motivation for students to continue their learning and passion in STEM.

Students will be exposed to the following:
• Learning how to use VEX components
• Being part of competitions
• Learning about teamwork and collaboration
• Communicating ideas and solutions to a global community
• Building and constructing solutions to technical problems
• Applying Mathematics and Physics to problem solve
• Programming basic commands
• Using the Design Process
• Modeling/3D printing
• Experiencing first-hand what an engineer does
