Students will improve their scientific thinking through investigating
phenomena from the world around us. Why do planes fly? Why do boats float?
How can we predict earthquakes? Students will learn through inquiry and
select their own phenomena to study. We will begin by learning about the
scientific method and lab safety. Then students will learn the scientific
concepts behind the phenomena they chose through the middle school science
standards, NGSS. The course will conclude with a “Science Conference” in
which students share their evidence and findings.
